This week’s viral content has us all questioning, who has the authority here? Move over for Jackie Weaver…

In all seriousness, the video illustrates the hilariously old-fashioned ‘democracy’ at play at local parish council level in Handforth. Some of the participants (ok, just the men) seem to imagine themselves as Tory backbenchers, guffawing at the opposition, instead as acting as voluntary, unelected busybodies (huhhmmm *opinion not fact*)

In case there was any question, Mrs Jackie Weaver did have the authority. She is none other than the Chief Officer of the Cheshire Association of Local Councils. Want a bit more info about formal parish council legalities? Nah we didn’t think so.

So, our Little Joy takeaway this week? That we aren’t members of the parish council. Phew.
