Yorkshire Talks is back for Season Three
Season Three of Yorkshire Talks lands on Tuesday 25 August.
The podcast — hosted by Christine Talbot and Matt Jameson, recorded here at Chapter 81 Studios in Leeds — has passed a million views and listens across its first two series. Season Three is sponsored by Patient.info, and it’s the strongest run of guests we’ve had.
Who’s on it
Dr Agam Jung, consultant neurologist, tells the story behind the Rob Burrow Centre for MND — from the first idea through to the opening of the multi-million-pound centre, and her years alongside Rob.
Gareth Gates sits down with Christine almost twenty-five years after she first interviewed him as a schoolboy for ITV Calendar. Now a performer and a dad, on the moment everything changed.
Amy Walsh brings her newborn into the studio. Gaynor Faye on Hot Flash, the first feel-good film to take on midlife and the menopause properly. Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Leeds Rhinos CEO. Matthew Haywood, Survivor winner. YouTuber Alexis Blake.
And Billy Bowness — Yorkshire’s own villain of ITVX’s Nobody’s Fool — on what actually went on behind the scenes.
The two objects
Every guest is asked to bring two things into the studio. One that stands for what Yorkshire means to them, and one that’s personally precious.
It sounds slight. It isn’t. An object in someone’s hands does something a question can’t — people stop performing and start remembering. It’s where most of the best moments in the first two series came from, and it’s why the show doesn’t sound like a celebrity interview.
Christine puts it better than we can:
“You never quite know where the conversation is going to go — and the objects our guests bring with them often reveal a completely different side to their lives.”
Our bit
Everything we do here is about making the room feel easy. The lighting, the set, the cameras all doing their job quietly enough that the guest forgets they’re there.
Get that right and you get the version of someone a straight interview never reaches — the belly laughs, the wobble halfway through a story. It has the feel of a daytime chat show, and this series has the range to match. Funny one minute, properly moving the next.
