Bundo Turn 10 - A long-weekend of throwback specials and giveaways to celebrate a decade of Bundobust Leeds.

Bundobust is celebrating its 10th anniversary at Bundobust Leeds with a long weekend of festivities. Enjoy super-limited throwback specials from past menus, the return of your favourite original merch, new birthday beers, spicy DJs, slushies, cake, and daily Bundo giveaways.

Launched a decade ago on Mill Hill, with a huge queue around the corner on its opening weekend in July 2014, Bundobust has ventured to Manchester (2016 and 2021) and Liverpool (2019), with Leeds still being the heart of where it all began.

Originally established to link great beer and food that wasn’t being showcased in the UK, the multi-award-winning Bundobust has since launched its own brewery, producing critically acclaimed beers. The origins of Bundobust trace back to Bradford, where Marko Husak and Mayur Patel met in the local hospitality scene. Marko was running the then-legendary Sparrow Bier Cafe, bringing incredible brews to Bradford, while Mayur was at his family restaurant, growing up in the kitchens of Prashad. The pair have never looked back.

The Birthday Long-Weekend

The birthday weekend celebrations will begin on Wednesday, July 24th. The first 50 people in the queue will be invited to Bundobust’s exclusive friends and family night, where they will receive a complimentary beer and food upon entry. The event starts at 6pm on a first-come, first-served basis, so they ask you to arrive early to join the festivities.

The celebration continues on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (July 25th-27th) with a tribute to favourite food and beers from the past decade. Enjoy throwback special dishes at 2 for £10, featuring Masala Dosa, Pav Bhaji, Punjabi Kadi, and Bataka Vada – a Desi party staple available for this weekend only. The event will also feature DJs, a lively playlist, and Bundo’s EVERYBODY GOOD TIME SLUSHY BAR serving up Frozen Disco Daiquiris. Plus, customers will receive an instant win scratch card to bag themselves a Bundo prize when they make their first purchase of the menu specials.

Festivities aren’t limited to the evenings. On Thursday and Friday lunchtimes, a £7 Lunch-Express offer will be available from 12-4pm, along with limited re-runs of classic merch available online.

The Beer

Beer has always been one of Bundobust’s main talking points. In 2021, it opening opened its own brewery in Manchester, and has since brewed its most prominent, juiciest, hoppiest IPA yet. BIG DAS is an 8.4% Extra IPA with a hefty malt base and an irresponsible amount of Nelson Sauvin, Calypso, and Hallertau Blanc hops. You’ll find it on the bar alongside a lineup of 2014 Keg & Cask Craft Beer OGs, including a rebrew of their first-ever UK collaboration with Northern Monk: Bombay Dazzler!

If you can’t make it to the event, Bundobust’s 10th Birthday Beer will be available at 10 key venues and friends of Bundobust around Leeds, such as Whitelocks Ale House, Brownhill & Co & North Bar to name a few – as well as Manchester, and Liverpool starting Thursday, July 25th, so you can raise a birthday toast.

Over the weekend, customers will also have the chance to get their hands on a one-off birthday comic by David Bailey, commemorating 10 years of Bundo. Additionally, every purchase of one of the birthday specials (Big Das or the menu items) will include a Bundobust “win every time” scratch card, offering the chance to win a free beer, slushy, tote bag, or even the entire menu!

Mayur Patel, Bundobust Co-Founder said “How is it 10 years now? Leeds was so good to us from our first pop-ups at Leeds International Beer Festival, Belgrave, Laynes to helping us get opened. We opened at a really exciting time for fod and drink in Leeds. There was a real buzz with independents and collaboration and we very much wanted to be a part of it and bring something new to the part with food that was lesser known.

We can’t believe we have made this landmark celebration. To celebrate this in Leeds, we are bringing back original menu items, refreshing the beers, and launching lots of new beers. The Big Das is a very special beer, and we can’t wait for people to get their hands on it.

We have created a little comic with long-term collaborator David Bailey too, which really does tell a bit of the story”
