Leeds becomes a giant game of TRIVIAL PURSUIT this summer
Leeds is turning into one big board game this summer, as TRIVIAL PURSUIT takes over the city centre for a brand-new interactive experience celebrating 400 years of Leeds’ royal charter.
Running from Saturday 25 July to Sunday 30 August 2026, the free city-wide activation from LeedsBID invites people to get out and explore Leeds in a whole new way — by putting their knowledge of the city to the test.
Following the success of the hugely popular MONOPOLY Leeds Takeover back in 2024, LeedsBID has once again teamed up with Hasbro to bring another iconic game off the table and onto the streets. This time, it’s all about facts, stories, surprises and the people and places that have shaped Leeds over the past four centuries.
And there’s plenty to play for.
From the story of Marks & Spencer to Leeds’ links with the first British internet provider, not to mention unexpected claims to fame involving carbonated water, the city has more than its fair share of fascinating facts. Add in famous names like Peter O’Toole, Melanie Brown, Marco Pierre White and Beryl Burton, and you’ve got a summer activity packed with local pride and brilliant bits of trivia.
A board game brought to life across Leeds
The experience will take players on a journey across the city centre, with key locations representing the six classic TRIVIAL PURSUIT categories: Entertainment, Geography, Sports & Leisure, Science & Nature, History, and Art & Literature.
Just like the original game, players will answer questions and collect wedges as they go. There’ll also be classic and junior questions, making it a great one for families, curious kids and competitive grown-ups alike.
One of the standout locations in the game will be Brodrick Hall inside Leeds City Museum, a stunning setting named after architect Cuthbert Brodrick, who designed some of Leeds’ best-known buildings.
Once players have collected all six wedges, they’ll face one final question to complete the challenge.
So whether you’re a Leeds expert, a pub quiz regular or just fancy seeing the city in a different way, this looks set to be one of the most fun ways to spend a summer day in the centre.
Celebrating Leeds, one question at a time
At its heart, TRIVIAL PURSUIT Leeds is a celebration of the city — its history, its achievements, its icons and its hidden gems.
Andrew Cooper, Chief Executive of LeedsBID, said the activation is all about showcasing both the big headline moments and the lesser-known stories that make Leeds such a special place.
And that’s exactly what makes this one feel so right for the city. It’s playful, it’s full of personality, and it gives people a chance to discover something new about Leeds while exploring some of its best-known locations.
More details will be announced on social media via @trivialpursuitleeds and Facebook.
