Taking the Spice to the Scousers!

Renowned for great food, drink and independent venues, Bold Street is a Liverpudlian hub. Where better for Bundobust to set up shop?

Bundobust is a Gujarati-snack and craft beer emporium which has been a massive hit, with rave reviews from the likes of Jay Rayner, as well as repeated Michelin Guide recommendations, Manchester Food & Drink awards and repeated Oliver Award wins.

After originally finding bricks and mortar on Leeds’ Mill Hill, Bundobust went on to set up a highly successful second venue just off Manchester’s Piccadilly, backing onto the Northern Quarter.

This third venue is set to be a hat trick for owners Marko Husak and Mayur Patel. The pair originally came together from disparate foodie haunts; Marko was the beer brain behind Bradford’s Sparrow Bier Cafe, whilst Mayur came from the Gujarati foodie dynasty behind Bradford (now Drighlington) success story, Prashad. After several collaborations and pop-ups, Bundobust was born – and has been achieving critical acclaim ever since.

Much like their other two venues, the Liverpool venue will require a complete rework; an uninspiring storefront on Leeds’ down-at-heel Mill Hill was completely transformed by their eye for design, as was the huge subterranean space in the Manchester venue, lit from above. Mayur and Marko enjoy a fresh canvas, and bringing the at once unique but recognisable Bundobust feel to a new city requires a dedication to that city, as well as to the Bundobust ethos. In Liverpool they have found the perfect spot in Bold Street. Home to some of the best independents including Maray, East Avenue Bakery, Love Thy Neighbour and the soon to open again, Bold Street Coffee.
