The Junction Welcomes You to an Unforgettable ‘Light Night’ Experience
See The Junction Transformed with Spectacular Artwork, Captivating Performances, and Delicious Local Food Vendors
The Junction, a vibrant neighbourhood in Whitehall, is continuing its proud involvement in ‘Light Night’, hosting two hypnotic attractions as part of the Wellington Place Zone. ‘Light Night’ is the UK’s largest annual arts and light festival and will be returning to Leeds on the 24th – 25th October 2024, promising unmissable immersive artwork, entertainment, and culinary delights. The Junction, a popular apartment community, will be a standout location over the two spectacular nights where Leeds’ most recognisable spaces are transformed with breathtaking installations and immersive performances that promise to captivate thousands of attendees.
The first installation at The Junction, ‘Globoscope’, is a magnificent immersive display of over 200 luminous spheres dotted across the landscape of the gardens. Located over Monk Bridge Viaduct, the light and sound pulse sequences will transform the gardens into a glowy, otherworldly landscape sure to awe visitors.
The second art installation, ‘Reflect’, is nestled in The Arches under Monk Bridge Viaduct, and is a mindful and meditative experience where shafts of light dance and bounce off moving water. Guided by an ambient soundtrack, attendees will trail their hands across the water and watch as ripples are reflected off the archway.
Known for its modern and mindful approach to living and community spirit, The Junction is a thriving area for both families and young professionals, helped by its accessibility and transport connections to central Leeds. Maintaining a local neighbourhood feel, The Junction is the perfect venue to host one of the city’s most beloved cultural highlights.
Beyond the art installations, The Junction will also be home to a dynamic range of events and performances, welcoming the Roller Girl Gang from 6:30-7:30pm, and Yorkshire Circus, hosting their event ‘Starlight – Developing Artist LED Show + LED ‘have-a-go’ area’ on the Multi Use Sports Pitch from 6:30-7pm and 7:30-8pm. Yorkshire Circus provides opportunities for individuals to experience high-production value events and shows, meaning artists can showcase their talents to a larger group using a variety of LED and pixel props. Their program invites associate artists to join their existing crew and also allows audience members to get involved in the ‘have a go’ workshop area, where a host of LED and glow props will be provided for members of the public of any age to come and learn some skills and experience the immersive environment. Younger visitors can also get involved with UV Face Painting, ensuring the whole family can take part in the festival fun!
As well as the stunning installations and events, guests will be able to enjoy some tasty food from local Leeds traders like delicious pop-up street food from Neighbourhood Fried Chicken, (formerly of Trinity Kitchen), and tasty treats from The Savvy Baker. And for drinks, The Junc Shed will be hosting a bar by New Citizens; a true feast for all the senses during this year’s Light Night celebrations.
With a community-driven approach to living, The Junction is proud to host these beautiful Light Night installations, offering guests a glimpse into the future of modern urban living. Designed to bring people together, The Junction is always looking to implement exciting new initiatives aimed at making Leeds an even happier and vibrant place. To mark the special occasion, The Junction is offering a £500 John Lewis voucher to anyone who signs a lease for an apartment on the 24th or 25th October.
You can visit ‘Light Night’ at The Junction on the 24th & 25th October 2024.
