FILM: This Is Your City

Our third film for the Welcome Back to Leeds series is in honour of welcoming back the students to Leeds.

The film started off about 6 weeks ago as we shot parts of Leeds (Brudenell, Hyde Park Book Club, Belgrave Music Hall) but this didn’t really sell a city. As soon as we received the words from Kate Ryrie we took the film down a different route. The toughest part was getting the audio right. Having asked Alumni (via their University/ College) and due to the time restraint, it was left to them to record on their devices and send over. The mix took longer than the filming with each piece of audio having to be cleaned and processed, but we love it for that reason alone.

The film follows four students – from artists to musicians, to sports stars of the future and keen foodies, as they embark on daily life in and around Leeds. It is narrated by those who have gone on to make their mark in the world of sport, music, and the creative industries. From proud Loiner and Leeds Rhinos legend Jamie Jones Buchanan, Olympic race walker and World Record Holder Thomas “Tom” Bosworth and Abigail Lee, Community & Partnerships officer at Leeds United FC Foundation. Also on the credits is Ruby Wood, lead singer/ songwriter of Leeds band Submotion Orchestra, producer, and sound engineer Aamir Yaqub, who has worked on Rhianna, David Guetta and Alicia Keys albums, up and coming DJ/ producer Eden Prince, 3D animator and virtual reality artist Rosie Summers and Leeds-based designers Martin O’Dea and Andy Foster, of Hungry Sandwich Club.
